These classes teach children the language of music at an age when their brains are decoding the vast amount of knowledge in their environment.  The lessons look like play, but are filled with meaningful activities that prepare children for their future musical endeavors.  In addition, there are many other benefits for music lessons at a young age.  Here are twelve of them:

2013 FALL SESSION

ANNOUNCING OUR 2013 FALL SESSION
Classes are held at the Carlsbad Dove Library (1775 Dove Lane, Carlsbad) and at our new location, Platypus Kids (1441 Encinitas Blvd, Suite 126, Encinitas).  Platypus Kids is an upscale resale clothing store with a beautiful classroom within.  We are excited to introduce you to this facility because it is perfect for our classes.  Registration for our Dove Library classes begins now.  Registration for our Platypus Kids classes begins June 8th.   Class sizes are limited, so register soon!  

Family Music for Babies and Toddlers  (Newborn - 3 Years) 
Participate with your child for 45 minutes each week in singing, chanting, moving, dancing, listening, and playing simple instruments. These weekly classes are action-filled for toddlers - full of energy, often on the move, always exploring and learning - and their parents. Together you’ll sing, chant, move, dance, listen, and play simple instruments, all activities that bridge the natural connection between music and movement through four wonder-filled semesters.

Preschool Music Class (Ages 3-5)
Celebrate your child’s love of nature and growing independence through activities involving the four seasons (45 minute class). Developed to build attention and self-expression, activities include singing, chanting, moving, focused listening, musical games, exploring musical instruments, creative movement and storytelling. This class nurtures your growing child’s ability to use language and participate in dramatic play within a musical context.

Junior Girls' Performance Show Choir (Ages 6-8)  
Sound System Kids is proud to present the opportunity for children to participate in show choir geared specifically for this age group. This performing group will meet weekly to learn holiday songs and dances that will be performed at various venues at the semester's end.  Girls will enhance their ensemble singing and dancing skills, gain confidence in performing, and learn to work together as a team.  Vocal technique and music education will be emphasized during rehearsals.  Solfege and sight reading will be introduced.  Girls will also participate in folk songs and singing games.  Performances will be held tentatively on Nov. 16, Dec. 5, and Dec 10th.  In past semesters, this group has performed at the Dove Library Auditorium, Carlsbad Premium Outlets, Balboa Park's December Nights, and Girls on the Go.

2013 Musical Theater Camp

Only 8 more days to take advantage of the early bird discount for our 2013 Musical Theater Camp.  This program is unique in that we have small enrollment and every single child has a big part with the opportunity to sing a solo song.  Every child will have their chance in the spotlight.  Some of our kids have used their solo songs for audition throughout the year and some performed them at school talent shows.  We are over halfway full, so sign up soon!  Here's all the info:

This play gives each child the opportunity to be in the spotlight.  Every child will experience singing a solo, performing group numbers, acting out lines, and working as a team.  In addition, we will take a professional head shot of each student and provide an 8x10 photo for use at future auditions.  We will also meet individually with each camper ahead of time to meet their personality and assign them a role.  Scripts and CD's will be provided prior to camp, so students can become familiar with them before camp begins.
