Dress Rehearsal

These are photos from our Musical Theater Summer Camp dress rehearsal!  We had so much fun!  In five rehearsals, these kids put on an amazing fully licensed musical with lights, mics, props, and staging.  Every child sang a solo, had lines, and sang and danced in group numbers.  They were fantastic and we loved teaching each and every one of them!

Young at Heart

I am always amazed at the spirit of the young.  They are sweet and innocent and eager.  I witnessed this last Thursday during our performance at Sunrise Senior Living.  It was fun to see each excited performer share their growing talents from musical instruments to singing to dance.  But it was the end of the performance that grabbed my heart and squeezed out some tears.  The children stood throughout the audience and together with them, they sang patriotic songs.  Their voices were heartfelt and hopeful.  It was amazing to hear the very young and those much older joined in music.

A big thank you to all who joined us!   This will be something we do again, and hopefully again, and again!

Students lined up ready to perform at Sunrise Senior Living.

Performance Opportunity!

We like to give children music opportunities.  Lots of them.   And many times those music opportunities help the community as well.  So, tah dah!  Here is our latest:

Sunrise Senior Living has invited us to perform on Thursday, June 28th at 6:30pm.  This means that if there are kids out there who want to show off their talents, we encourage them to join us and bring some joy to the residents at Sunrise.  So far we have pianists, vocalists, violinists, guitarists.  We welcome it all.  And it's absolutely FREE to participate.  You just need to tell us you're coming.

If someone you know under the age of 12 would like to participate in this wonderful service, please e-mail us:

info@soundsystemkids.org

We'll need the name of the child, the musical talent they want to share, the name of the piece they will perform, and if an accompanist is needed or not.

After the performance, the children will be able to hand out treats to the residents and talk with them if they wish.  Space is limited so tell us soon if you'd like to participate.
